HISTORY
Red Star Rugby League Club (Serbian Latinic: Ragbi Liga Klub Crvena Zvezda (Serbian Cyrillic: Рагби Лига Клуб Црвена Звезда)) is a Serbian rugby league football club based in Belgrade and competing in the Serbian Rugby League 1st Division.
Founded in the summer of 2006, largely thanks to the work of Belgrade locals Miloš Kućančanin, Željko Delić and Nikola Matejić, Red Star RLC was admitted into the Serbian RFL in 2007 and became a full member of the world-renowned Red Star Sports Society (Sportsko Društvo Crvena Zvezda) in 2008.
Since then the club has trained and played at Red Star’s famous ‘Marakana’ stadium complex in the Savski Venac municipality of Belgrade.
The club's progress into the Red Star Sports Society and subsequent expansion came largely thanks to the sponsorship of Belgrade-based law firm Harrisons Solicitors, which was general sponsor of Red Star RLC from 2008 to 2011.
The team recorded its highest season finish to date in 2010, finishing second in the league and runners-up in the SRFL Cup.
The Red Star RLC Junior Team (u18s) was founded in 2011 and competed in the inaugural Serbian Junior RL season.
Red Star RLC is not connected to the original Red Star Rugby XIII club, which competed in the first incarnation of the Serbian Rugby League Competition between 1954 and 1963, until the sport was banned in Yugoslavia.
